Strategic Exit Advisors Enters 20th Year of Guiding Entrepreneurs Through Life-Changing Exits
SEA Enter Two Decades of Maximizing Value, Protecting Legacies, and Championing the People Behind Every Deal
Ambler, PA – Strategic Exit Advisors (SEA) enters its 20th year of service to lower middle market entrepreneurs. Since 2007, the firm has guided business owners through one of the most significant decisions of their lives—selling the company they built—while ensuring their employees are taken care of and their legacy endures.
Founded by
Curt Cyliax, a former CPA with over 40 years of experience working with entrepreneurial companies,
SEA has grown from a vision to serve business owners differently into a nine-person team covering the lower middle market. The firm specializes in sell-side and buy-side M&A advisory services for companies with EBITDA ranging from $2 to $8 million, helping entrepreneurs achieve their personal and financial goals through strategic partnerships.
"When we started SEA nearly two decades ago, I understood that selling a business is about far more than a financial transaction," said Curt Cyliax, Managing Director, Strategic Exit Advisors. "It's the culmination of an entrepreneur's life's work. We've built our firm around that understanding, focusing on what matters most to our clients: taking care of their people, maintaining company culture, and preserving their legacy. Entering our 20th year, that mission hasn't changed."
To commemorate entering its 20th year, SEA has introduced a refreshed logo and brand identity — a visual representation of the firm's growth and continued commitment to the entrepreneurs it serves.
The firm enters its milestone year on the heels of significant momentum. In 2024, SEA was named among Philadelphia's 30 Fastest-Growing Companies by The
Philadelphia100® Forum — the third such recognition in recent years, following a #9 ranking in 2021 and #28 in 2020. This sustained growth reflects the firm's expanding client base and deepening expertise in lower middle market M&A.
Recent transactions demonstrate the breadth of SEA's capabilities across diverse industries. In September 2025, SEA successfully represented
ONExia, a Pennsylvania-based robotics system integrator and automation engineering firm, in its strategic acquisition by Doosan Robotics, a global leader in collaborative robotics solutions. The deal team also guided
Raeyco Lab Equipment Systems through its acquisition by global calibration leader Trescal, advised
The MNM Group Inc. in its acquisition by Lynx Equity Limited, and represented Open Systems Integrators in its partnership with Sciens Building Solutions, a Carlyle portfolio company.
SEA has significantly expanded its team to meet growing demand. In September 2024,
Michael O'Donnell, CFA, joined as Managing Director, bringing over two decades of corporate finance, treasury, and investor relations experience across automotive, chemical, mining, telecom, hospitality, and education sectors. The firm also promoted Peter Hissey to Director in September 2025, recognizing his contributions since joining as a Summer Analyst and then returning as an Associate. A Wharton graduate and former Boston Red Sox organization player, Hissey has become instrumental in leading transaction execution while mentoring junior team members.
"Peter's promotion reflects not just his technical capabilities but his embodiment of SEA's belief that the right buyer matters as much as the right price," said
Rob Waring, Managing Director. "His growth from Summer Analyst to Director exemplifies our commitment to developing talent from within."
Jamie Lavarnway was also promoted to Vice President, bringing her entrepreneurial background and deal execution skills to the team after contributing to key transactions including the ONExia acquisition.
SEA continues to invest in the next generation of M&A professionals through its cooperative education partnership with
Drexel University and Summer Analyst
program with students from institutions including University of Pittsburgh and Lehigh University. Managing Director Rob Waring was appointed to the
Exit Planning Institute's Greater Philadelphia Chapter leadership team, further extending the firm's industry influence.
In July 2025,
SEA announced a partnership with
Women in Manufacturing (WIM), the nation's leading trade association supporting over 32,000 women in manufacturing careers. The sponsorship underscores SEA's commitment to championing leadership development that drives business value. Founder Curt Cyliax was also appointed to the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia100® Forum in June 2024, reflecting his leadership in the regional entrepreneurial community.
SEA's Pay It Forward program, launched in 2020, continues to make an impact by supporting charitable causes important to clients following successful transactions. Recent beneficiaries include the Susan G. Komen Foundation, JPMA Cares, Philabundance and numerous community organizations across the Greater Philadelphia region.
"Our growth over the past two decades is a direct result of staying true to our mission," said
Tony Parisi, Managing Director. "We understand what entrepreneurs have been through to build their companies. Our job is to make sure they get paid for it — while ensuring their employees are taken care of and their legacy endures. That focus won't change as we enter our third decade."
With an expanded team of Managing Directors, Directors, Vice Presidents, and Analysts, SEA is positioned to continue serving lower middle market entrepreneurs who are seeking strategic partners to maximize value and protect their life's work.
